We’re a week away from Valentine’s Day, which means you still have time to pick up a gift for that special someone. And if that person has a passion for travel here are some ideas that go beyond flowers and chocolate. (Okay, you can still get the chocolate.)
I recently wrote a post on the Top 5 Reasons to Consider Solo Travel. If someone you love is headed off on a solo adventure make sure they’re prepared for every possible situation with The Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook. Hey, you never know when someone is going to have to wrestle an alligator for the last free bagel in the hostel kitchen.
The Mara Mi travel set is probably my favorite gift of the bunch because it’s so useful. I’m always on the lookout for a new luggage tag or passport cover. I love colorful luggage tags because they make it easier to spot your bag rolling along the conveyor belt at baggage claim. Also a pop of color is just fun. The passport cover is great for protecting your passport and holding immunization records, boarding passes, etc.
This is a great gift for someone headed out on a trip in the near future. The Mead travel journal will help them preserve the memories of their adventures. It comes with lined pages for writing, stickers for accent, and pockets to hold ticket stubs, boarding passes, receipts, and more.
If they’re anything like me the travel lover in your life probably has a thing for maps and globes. The whole world is literally at your fingertips to discover where to travel next. These globes by Threshold and Project 62 are desktop-sized to encourage a healthy dose of daydreaming at the office.

Help your boo decide where to go on vacation this year. Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2018 has a lot of great recommendations, many of which I can vouch for. For example, the book highlights the fact that this year Oslo (one of my all-time favorite cities) will have celebrations for the king and queen’s fiftieth anniversary and the tenth anniversary of the opera house. We’re only two months into the year, so there’s lots of time to explore 2018’s best.
Double whammy! You can inspire both wanderlust AND nostalgia with the Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego card game. Your Valentine isn’t in elementary school anymore, but who wouldn’t want to relive the glory days of tracking Carmen Sandiego around the globe. Rockapella not included.
Even if you’re keeping it local for Valentine’s Day you can toast around the world with these global pint glasses. And you don’t have to be in the City of Love to express your love en français with these wine glasses.
Hopefully that helps spark some ideas for a perfect Valentine’s gift or just ideas to treat yourself. You deserve it!
